AMMUNITION FOR THE SELF-DEFENSE FIREARM - Opinion by Anonymous, Preface by Chuck Hawks: I decided to reproduce this rather long piece here partly because it is clearly the author's desire that it be widely disseminated. Another part is that it makes interesting reading, and I enjoy a good read as much as anyone. Although the author has some strong opinions, they are informed opinions, and worthy of careful consideration. Actually, I have an idea about the identity of "Anonymous," which is another reason this piece appears here, but it is the author's desire to remain anonymous, and in any case I could be wrong, so I have made no attempt to confirm my suspicion. Enjoy Ammunition For The Self-Defense Firearm

(ALMOST) EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT AMMUNITION By Larry J. Nichols : The purpose of this article is not to belittle anyone, but rather enlighten those who have an interest in understanding the ambiguous phraseology, or “system,” of naming small arms self-contained cartridges. The truth of the matter is that the “system” of cartridge terminology and caliber designation of self-contained ammunition is not really a system, but a code, and can only be learned through extensive reading and experience.

Rifle Cartridges Articles by Chuck Hawks on a huge number of calibers, from the .17 Rem. to the .50 BMG.

Reloading Rifle Ammunition for Accuracy While most people reload pistol ammunition in bulk to save money, most hand-loaders that load for rifles do so to improve accuracy. In this article we will explore some of the ways you can get the most accuracy from your rifle through advanced hand-loading techniques.

How To Reload Rifle Cartridges For Accuracy Loading, (remanufacturing), (reloading) ammunition for a rifle is serious business and should never be taken lightly! When done properly and precisely real gains in rifle accuracy can be achieved. See also: How To Reload Rifle Cartridges

Handloading for Match Rifles by Boots Obermeyer, April 1994 - updated through April 1998. The purpose of this paper is to provide a reference guide for those attending Jim Owens' class on high power competitive rifle shooting. It is based on loading for rimless rifle cartridges. The two main caliber's in use at this time are .308 Win (7.62 x 51) and 223 Rem (5.56 x 45) because they are current for the issue service rifles. I will use the .308 as the primary cartridge for this discussion. We can go into details of other caliber's as time allows.

Quantity Reloading The task examined is one of reloading large quantities of consistent, high quality rifle ammunition over a period of time. This would be typical of the NRA Highpower or Silhouette competitor. The techniques and methods discussed center around use of a standard single stage reloading press, for the author is not impressed with the results or safety of progressive reloading machines when used for rifle ammo.

303 British Reloading Recipes & 303 Epps Reloading Recipes

What's the Best 303? There were four bolt action rifles designed over a period of fifty odd years. Ignoring the variants and early black powder firearms, the No 1, the Ross, the P-14 Enfield and the No 4 are the most familiar to us. Of these, the No 1 and No 4 are in the majority of gun cabinets today. This is to be expected. Both the Ross and P-14 rifles weren't made for too long or in any great numbers.

Shotgun

Reloading Your Own (Shotgun) Shells By Ken Weinzierl. Should I reload my own shells? Will I save money? What would I need to get started? Where can I get what I need? Are reloads better than factory shells? Is reloading steel different than lead? Is it dangerous? I have been asked these questions many times. In a series of articles, I will try to answer these questions.

Reloading .410 Bore Shotshells Long term reloading of .410's means using all-brass cases. That requires a more knowledge and skill, but the brass cases will last virtually forever. Extremely sturdy brass cases can be made from .303 British cases, .444 Marlin brass, or for full length 3" cases, 9.3 x 74R brass can be used. First the empty cases should be annealed, then fireformed with 8.0 grains of Herco and a case full of Cream of Wheat (load single shot, straight up, then fire). The Cream of Wheat will blow the case walls straight, including the shoulder and neck, resulting in a straight sided all brass case...

Shotgun Shell Reloading As the title states, this article is about how to get started reloading shotgun shells. I'm going to assume that you already want to reload, and have some idea of the advantages of so doing. (If not, see my article "Introduction to Reloading" on the General Firearms Information Page.) Most shotgun shooters find that the greatest benefit to reloading is lowered ammunition expenses. Reloads are cheaper than factory loads, so you can shoot more for the same amount of money.

How to set up your reloader for any combination of hull, wad, shot, powder, and primer

Reloading Shotgun Shotshells Reloading your own shotgun ammunition can be fun, very rewarding, and most of all cost efficient. With the shotgun sports ever increasing popularity, reloading ammo for shotguns is growing as well.

Beginner Reloading: Shotshells At the heart of using Alliant Powder are the "How To" steps each reloader needs to follow to produce safe, high-quality rounds. In this area of our website, Alliant Powder offers step-by-step guide for reloading shotgun shells and centerfire cartridges. We encourage you to carefully follow each of the steps shown. This site is designed to help you complete all the important steps of reloading. We are grateful to the supporting corporations who helped make the content on this portion of our site possible.

CLAYBUSTER100's Shotshell Reloading Page Reloading has been around basically since the beginning of the country. Back then men would pour black powder, stuff wadding, and pour shot down the barrel of their musket. They were not often hungry . This is proof that reloading is effective, no matter how rudimentary.

Cartridges

Using Once-Fired Military Brass by Stuart A. Leach a.k.a. "the Colorado Gray Fox". Every NRA Highpower shooter is tempted to use the once-fired 30-06, 7.62/308 and 5.56/223 military brass advertised in magazines and catalogs. The price is usually low compared with virgin commercial cases, and it somehow seems right to use GI brass in a service rifle. There are a few things to know about military brass before you start using it for competition, and I'd like to offer a few hints and tips.

Cartridge Case Sizing, Stretching, Trimming & Lubing [PDF] by Mark Trope & R. Ted Jeo: The brass cartridge case is a wonder of design. A lot gets asked of the one loading component we can take home after a trip to the range. Consider this, it gets subjected to upwards of 50,000 lbs pressure on firing! It must expand, release the bullet, contract, then be dragged out of a hot chamber, (possibly hit the ground!) and still have enough integrity to be reloaded...

Fine Tuning Brass Resizing [PDF] (Resizing Die Adjustment, Fine Tuning for the Mil-Surp Rifle Chamber) By Mark Trope & R. Ted Jeo: I recently checked the instructions from four different die producers to see what they recommend. Full-length die instructions from two of the companies say, “Install the shell holder in the ram, raise the ram to its highest point and turn the sizing die in until it firmly contacts the shell holder. Tighten the die lock ring.” Two other vendors further advise: “Lower the ram slightly, and turn in the die another ¼ to 1/3 turn. Tighten the die lock ring.” Not bad advice. These instructions will certainly produce a resized case that will fit in a mil surp chamber. However, is it possible to do just a bit better? Is there a way to get a slightly better fit then a complete, full length resizing? And, of course, being the "cheapos" that we are, is there a way to extend the life of your brass?

Tumbler Plans Build your own brass tumbler.

Reloading 9x18M Makarov The first question that the shooter must ask is "Is it worth it?" For the occasional shooter who is not really interested in ballistics, or simply wants to evaluate commercial ammunition for defensive purposes, the answer may be it isn't. I do not wish to lecture those who are not interested in loading, and such a discussion is beyond the scope of this writing. However, those who wish to maximize the potential of the Makarov should seriously consider reloading their own ammunition for it.

Case Volume Table (cubic inches) These are APPROXIMATE, they are close and are based on standard case dimensions and do not take into account the variations between different manufacturers. Again they are based on the standard chambering, individual manufactures will make cases that vary and after firing in different chambers the volume will change slightly. This is for comparison only, I would not use this to calculate pressures.

Bullets

Moly Coating Bullets - Quality Results; Simply and Economically by Jon Wilcox. I now have three years production experience moly coating bullets. How I do it is a massively lower cost alternative to commercial kits in the marketplace. I started in 1997, wanting to coat bullets, but unwilling to buy more tumblers and other equipment. Since I already had a huge Dillon tumbler, I considered ways to use it instead.

How To -- Casting your own Lead Bullets. Several people have written to ask about the process of casting our own bullets. A few questions have come in that I couldn't answer so I decided to try it myself and learn a little about the process. What I learned was that casting my own bullets is not only a great way to drastically reduce the cost per bullet, but it is both a lot of fun and relaxing. This article shows how the average person can outfit themselves to start casting and to have fun in the process...

The information presented is a result of our experimentation and experience. We offer no guarantee or warranty of any kind on the information presented and you should proceed with caution if you choose to try the techniques or products that we present. Reloading is not an exact science; we have no control over what you do or what you use. Therefore, you assume any and all risk involved...

Casting Bullets Written By: Duane Otis If you have found reloading to be for you, the next serious consideration is whether or not you will start casting your own bullets. It is a big step. A very big step, in that there are serious safety considerations. I want you to know that casting bullets is very labor and time intensive. We are dealing with very hot molten metal. That hot lead can burn you. Very seriously!. If that is enough to say you want no part of it; you not need read much further. You will still be able to do your reloading, as there are many makers of cast bullets in just about every style, size and weight that are needed for our applications.

Cast Bullets in the Lee Enfield Rifle Your rifle can be a good shooter!

Bullet Talk How to match the right bullet to the right velocity.

Rhino Core Bonded Bullets For hunters using a rifle chambered in 303 British or 7.62x54R, there aren't a lot of choices when it comes to premium bullets. As most of us know, Barnes, Nosler and the other specialty bullet makers don't offer anything in .311 diameter in their catalogs.

Bullets - Ad Hype vs Performance A short history of bullet development & the 3 steps of proper bullet selection.

(The) Greenhill Formula for Predicted Bullet Stability : bullet length vs. twist rate. The Greenhill Formula predicts the required barrel twist rate (number of inches for one complete rotation) to stabilize a given bullet, based on the bullet caliber and length. This formula is somewhat dated (it's over 70 years old), but still provides a good 'rule of thumb' for determining the required twist rate for proper bullet stabilization. The important thing to remember is that this formula is a good simplification of the more accurate, complex equations.

Cast Bullets - How Filler Improves the Breed: [PDF] In the world of military surplus (mil-surp) rifles, shooting and reloading is a learning process. Too many times, you find yourself lost and unable to fire some new (old) rifle you picked up because of the lack of the correct ammo or, if you are a reloader, the lack of correctly sized bullets. Sure, there are some specifically made bullets for odd” calibers out there, Hornady’s .268 “6.5mm Carcano” bullet that Grafs sells comes to mind, however, there are lots of other calibers that you cannot find the correctly sized bullet for. Step into the realm of cast bullets.

Ballistic Software The Demo of Load From A Disk is the full-featured program except the bullets are limited to .30 caliber (0.308 inches diameter) and weights of 110 to 150 grains. The Demo will expire after 30 days from installation. This software is made for Microsoft Windows. It will run on Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, or XP.

JBM Ballistics Software -  These programs were given to me by Robert L. McCoy and posted here with his knowledge. He worked at the US Army's Ballistics Research Lab for many years, where he wrote these programs as part of his work. I have made some changes to these programs (with Bob's knowledge) only as necessary to fix bugs. There are also some tabulated drag functions some of which Bob sent me and others from the Winchester text (see citation below).

See Also: JBM - Ballistics This section deals with the actual calculations of small arms ballistics.

Ballistics: software, tables and links  This page started off with the kind permission of John. He was the creator of the original collection of ballistics articles, programs, tables and links. He needed a new home for his hard work, as he couldn't handle the size any more, and didn't just want to discard it.

AMMO BOX ver. 1.0 Ammo Box is a shareware utility which provides information on various cartridges, firearms related terms, and firearms related formulas. For the gun shop, it is indispensable!

AMMO GUIDE ver. 3.0 This is a small-arms ammunition database with GUI-based front end. The program is freely distributable, but all rights are reserved. The goal of this program is to be a technically-accurate reference engine that is easy, interesting and fun to use. The program programmatically calculates the graphic images for any small-arms caliber cartridge in it's (extensible) database and displays it in characteristic brass coloring in high-resolution graphics. See also: AMMO GUIDE ver. 3.0 Updates Most recent updates to the above program

ARMSCALC ver. 4.0.1 ArmsCalc is a comprehensive tool to estimate and graph how a projectile will behave under predetermined circumstances. You can graphically compare loads with different bullet types, weights, charges, etc. for remaining energy and velocity, elevation, trajectory, etc. Results obtained from this program are mathematically correct, but may differ from actual field testing. Many factors may be unknown or unable to be calculated, but they still affect the ballistics of a round. For example, the barrel length and twist of rifling affects the stability of a round, while the exact diameter of bore and bullets vary from weapon to weapon and round to round, even within the same caliber. ArmsCalc, used in conjunction with ArmsLoad, gives you the ability to track actual performance of reloaded shells and make accurate estimates of the bullet performance for different ranges and conditions.

ARMSRELOADER ver. 4.0.1 The Reloader is designed to bridge the gap between reloading manuals and good record keeping, The Reloader is both a stand alone package that computes loads, or as an add on to ArmsLoad providing complete load data computed for Speer, Nosler, Sierra, Hornady and Lyman cast bullets with other combinations soon to be available. The Reloader is available as Handgun Data, Rifle Data and Shotgun Data. After looking up a load, the data may be saved to the ArmsLoad database. ArmsLoad is designed to track performance of shotshell and metallic cartridge loads, calculate cost comparisons, analyze chronograph and target data. When used in junction with ArmsCalc the performance of the load is estimated and input for the shooter. Combined with The Reloader the shooters dreams have come true.

BALCAL DEMO ver. 6.2d BalCal 6.2, a combination of a user friendly exterior ballistics package and training software for hunters, snipers, target shooters, plinkers, and GI's. Generate precise data for your loads in your firearms. Then use that same data to learn hold over, wind compensation, lead, and up/down hill firing effects by 'firing' at a variety of target images with randomized conditions.

BALLISTIC ver. 4.13 W. R. Frenchu's comprehensive smallarms ballistics program for PCs and compats. Compute 30+ exterior ballistic functions (several displayable graphically) using any of 5 different drag functions (including G7 for the new VLD bullets). New in 4.10: windage diagrams (wind roses), negative sight heights (for laser sights), online help, more!

BALLISTIC EXPLORER DEMO ver. 5.5.4 The DEMO version is limited to working with BC values of 0.1 and 0.5 +/- 0.01 (two ranges of 0.090 to 0.110, and 0.490 to 0.510). You can enter other values, but the program will round them to either 0.1 or 0.5 when it calculates downrange values. From Oehler.

BALLISTIC SIMULATOR DEMO Ballistic Tables creates trajectory tables with the correct sight setting for various shooting distances and environmental conditions. The sight settings adjusted from a known zeroing distance, muzzle velocity, bullet type, temperature, and altitude to any new shooting distance, angle or environmental condition.

BORDER BARRELS BALLISTIC SUITE LOAD.EXE: This uses Powley's algorithms to calculate a load.EXTBAL.EXE: This uses a Powley straight line drag curve to calculate trajectories. Use G1 Ballistic Coefficients that are valid for 3000 ft/sec. This program is tailored good for "sharp" projectiles with boat tails, not blunt hunting bullets. The program will work for flat based bullets with "sharp" points as well though, so long as they are well above the trans-sonic zone (1400 ft/sec). This program is valid for supersonic velocities above 1200 ft/sec. but gives fair results down to 800 ft/sec. It should not be used where the terminal velocity is below 800 ft/sec. 22EXTBAL.EXE: This program assumes a standard 40 grain .22 rimfire bullet and a subsonic muzzle velocity. RELBURN.TXT: This program compares burning rates of a variety of powders from the fastest burning at the top to the slowest at the bottom. TWISTCAL.EXE: This program computes the stability of a given projectile over a range of velocities.

BULLET SIMULATOR DEMO ver. 1.0 Bullet Simulator is a program designed by and for shooters to help you understand, predict and optimize the ballistic performance of your rifles. Using a mathematical model of bullet flight, you prepare for hunts by designing the best bullet path for your rifle, bullet and conditions. The result is that you can concentrate on the target, not on the bullet path. A maintainable library of bullets for both factory and custom loads is included. The easy-to-use program is menu-driven, with on-line help and results interpretation. This demo version has all the functionality of the registered version, except that the cartridge and bullet are fixed. All other features of the program can be used to give a complete impression of its usefulness. Your cost of this demo version is refunded by Applied Ballistics when you become a registered owner; you receive a full-featured program, a printed User's Guide with examples, mail support and upgrade notices. Bullet Simulator runs on true IBM-compatibles with DOS version 2.0 or later, 256K RAM and two diskette drives. IBM-compatible graphics adapters and a printer are supported but not required.

EXTERIOR BALLISTICS DEMO ver. 4.10 EBV4 (the letters stand for Exterior Ballistics Version 4) is the fourth version of a computer program, which will run on all IBM MS-DOS PCs or compatibles. It calculates trajectories of bullets or other objects (e.g. fragments) moving through the atmosphere. EBV4 can be applied to any of three physical trajectory models: The Vacuum Ballistics Model (VBM) introduced into physics by Galileo Galilei, which assumes the presence of the force of gravity only. The Point Mass Model (PMM), which assumes the presence of two forces: the aerodynamic drag and the force of gravity. The Modified Point Mass Model (MPMM), which additionally considers effects of spin, e.g. the spin-dependent side drift. The MPMM also takes into account the lift force, but assumes that the yaw angle (the angle enclosed between the tangent to the trajectory and the bullet's longitudinal axis) remains small over the whole trajectory. The application of the MPMM is restricted to conical and ogive nose shapes, for which the necessary aerodynamic coefficients can be estimated from semi-empirical formulas. EBV4 does not support the mostly advanced 6-Degrees-of-Freedom (6DOF) model, as in most practical cases, the whole set of aerodynamic coefficients applicable to this model is not available.

GROUP SIZE CALCULATOR ver. 1.11 The Group Size Calculator is used to calculate group size, average radius, the Standard deviation of shots from group center, and the group center when given a file consisting of a sequence of shots. One can either reference a pre-saved file with the (X,Y) coordinates of each shot listed, or a scanned bitmap (*.bmp) picture of the target.

INSITE/BALLISTICS ver. 2.7 Welcome to the wonderful world of exterior ballistics on your Personal Computer! On-line help is available everywhere except the graphics screens by simply pushing F1! The help will tell you when libraries are available. The libraries contain velocities, ballistic coefficients, common firearms weights, and caliber as given by various manufacturer's literature. Does lots of neat calculations. Excellent for reloaders and those that need to know how a load performs at different ranges.

LEE PRECISION BALLISTICS CALCULATOR This ballistic calculator is the simplest of any that I have reviewed. It rapidly provides excellent information without any unnecessary complicated input of time, temperature, barometric pressure, wind, barrel angle etc. While these all have an effect, the amount is insignificant and usually not available while at your computer. Even at the extremes, these other factors effect bullet drop a tiny percentage of the variances caused by ammunition, rifle and shooter. The ease of use makes it a highly desirable accessory. The most useful aspect of any ballistic program is to calculate the optimum distance to "Zero" your rifle. This program does it very well.

LOAD FROM A DISK DEMO ver. 4.0.0 Load From a Disk has been solving tough cartridge loading and ballistic problems for the shooter/reloader for well over fifteen years. During this period the program has been improved and expanded several times (thanks primarily to feedback from users such as yourself). This latest Windows version includes the following features: A powerful Internal Ballistics section that can be utilized by reloaders to determine cartridge case capacities and cartridge load information (such as pressures and muzzle velocities at various load densities, and available powders). A selection of over 50 powders are included in Cartridge Loading. Loading for any given cartridge will cover two to ten powders. The program displays loads for both a primary and an alternate group of powders. The alternate loading table calculates pressures and velocities for both the suggested powder group and the alternate powder group. This information is calculated for loading densities of 75% to 100%. Loads which may generate overpressure are designated. The Case Capacity section includes a built-in cartridge database covering nearly one hundred cartridges. Coupled with the program's data storage and retrieve features allow the user to construct an extensive library of cartridge information. By utilizing Case Measurements, a user can quickly determine the full case capacity of any cartridge. This full case capacity can be quickly refined to determine the effective, or net, case capacity (capacity with bullet seated). All calculated case capacities can be transferred directly to cartridge loading for use in load calculations.

LOADBASE ver. 1.0 LoadBase 1.0 is a specific-purpose integrated software suite designed to help the centerfire metallic cartridge Reloader with the most common "information" tasks often involved in developing, analyzing, filing and searching of handloading data. Its scope is broad, as well its audience, being a valuable tool for competitive shooters, hunters, forensic experts, any anyone interested in this fascinating subject. This is a professional software, for serious users, who only want the best.

ON TARGET Interesting program, but could use a lot of help in the instruction, help, and operation area!

POINT BLANK COMPUTER RELOADING AND BALLISTIC SOFTWARE ver. 1.8a Point Blank is a windows 95/98/NT/2000 based graphical reloading and ballistics tracking program. It tracks individual load data, results, and estimates external ballistics results. It is freeware and costs nothing.

POWLEY COMPUTER ver. 2.2 The Powley computer is a "slide rule" type device which is designed to allow you to pick the best IMR series powder for your rifle cartridge when certain parameters about the cartridge are known. The original Powley computer was designed by Homer Powley some years ago before the advent of the microcomputer. It's slide rule form makes it somewhat slow to use and somewhat error prone. The purpose of POWVERxx.BAS is to eliminate the errors and to speed up the operation. With the original Powley computer, it could take almost 15 minutes to set up the calculations and recheck what you had done. Using a microcomputer, you could do at least 10 calculations for different cartridges AND get a ballistics print out too.

PROJEKTIL II This is a neat program I just located in Germany. It is freeware and costs nothing.

Q-BALL ver. 3.20 Compute/display/save/recall/print: ballistics data: energy, velocity, trajectory data, flight time, wind deflection. Graphics display/print trajectories. Find BC's, free recoil, sectional density, point-blank range, slant fire data, wind correction, MV, prob zero. Bullet lookup, on-line help, popup calculator, utilities, on disk manual.

QuickLOAD DEMO ver. 2.8 and QuickTARGET DEMO

RELOADBENCH ReloadBench software system, is basically an electronic rolodex, that you can store your reloading information in. That's all it is, really. A database. To keep it real simple to use, there is one big file. Just like a rolodex...all those index cards in one circular container. You know how you "flip" through a rolodex? looking for what you want? The index card your looking at the moment, is at the top of the main screen.

RELOADER GOLD ver. 2.2 Re-Loader GOLD is a full featured database application designed to aid the high powered rifle re-loader in recording and maintaining important history information. Provides un-limited database size and allows creating a un-limited number of different databases. Provides pulldown user changeable selection menu's for bullet type, powder type, and primer.

RIFLE RIFLEDOS.EXE and RIFLEWIN.EXE are rifle and pistol ballistic computer programs to aid in gun sighting, comparing calibers and loads and shooting at conditions of altitude and temperature. These programs are easy to use and offer insight into the technical problem of accurate gun shooting.

ROB'S RELOADING ORGANIZER RRO is a combination reloading data storage and ballistics program. Some programs specialize in displaying ballistic information, with a limited ability to store specific information about your loads and the specifics about your firearms. Other programs concentrate on storing data, but still don't keep all the data you need if you are a "precision" reloader. Only a few try to do it both, and they have a complicated user interface while still not allowing you to store the data which is important to some reloader's. With RRO we have tried to give you more than a place to store your important reloading data and make ballistic computations. We have intentionally added the ability to store data that most programs don't; while keeping a simple user interface. RRO also has the ability to help you when creating a series of loads for testing new powders and bullets. RRO can even help you when testing loads for best free bore (jump to the lands) measurements.

SHOOT! DEMO ver. 3.0 DEMO Version Shoot! is a unique exterior ballistics program that makes use of graphics, not just tables of data, for easy interpretation and understanding of ballistic information. This approach to ballistics helps users of Shoot! in two ways: 1) Understanding ballistics is made easier because the data is presented in a format shooters and hunters can understand - on a target! 2) The learning curve is shortened and thus users can concentrate on making the most of the program to solve, explore shooting scenarios; not spending vast amounts of time understanding the program itself. The interface of Shoot! was carefully designed for simplicity. There are very few controls and command buttons which eliminate confusion. Context sensitive help is available by pressing the F1 button any time the program is running.

SHOT SOFT DEMO ShotSoft 3000 is a powerful suite for Microsoft operating systems Windows 95/ 98/ME and Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems. It covers a broad range of competition scoring software.

ULTIMATE BALLISTICS ver. 4.5 Why he calls it "Ultimate Ballistics" I'll never know!

WINBALLISTICS ver. 1.2.16 WinBallistics is a program to calculate external ballistics for centerfire rifles. For the most part, it uses the equations described in the 4th edition of the Sierra Reloading Manual to calculate the bullet path after it leaves the barrel. It makes corrections for crosswind, ambient temperature, barometric pressure, elevation, and shooting angle. Using the default values for temperature, barometric pressure, and elevation with a shooting angle of 0 will give the values reported in most ballistics tables. The bullet path is displayed in tabular form showing velocity, energy, drop, drift, and distance from line of site for the selected distance intervals. Ballistic coefficients can be calculated from distance/velocity data supplied by some commercial ammunition vendors.
