Camouflage for Troops of the Line ~ Washington Government Printing Office; 28 pgs 1920: Under the head of camouflage may be included all precautions taken to render positions and moving objects of military importance less visible. These precautions are by no means limited to. work done by specially organized camouflage troops, but every command must think and operate independently to lessen its visibility and to render its movements or positions less easy to range. The subject naturally divides itself into two separate heads: First. Concealment. Second. Camouflage discipline. Neither is of value without the other.

Tales of the Black Art - Jungle Stalk - Steven J King [Fiction] As the drone of the chopper fades away I am suddenly overcome by an eerie, yet tranquil feeling of loneliness.  I sit in the shadows of the landing zone, frozen, waiting for any enemy follow up.  Now the only sound is of the Jungle fauna and insect life that will become my combat indicator for the days ahead.  I can feel the sharp incisions of the mosquitoes as they home in on my virgin flesh.  I will let them have their fill.

DAY TWO: Beale airmen go into the woods to learn how to evade enemies In a world where terrorism grows each year and with the United States fighting wars on two fronts, U-2 pilots are in high demand right now, according to the Air Force. Before new U-2 pilots can actually fly alone on missions, they must go through a long series of training programs. Part of that training is what to do if they have to eject from the U-2. Mother McGrory's Military © by Gerald L. Atkinson: Copyright 4 June 1995: Now comes our self-appointed Secretary of Defense, Mary McGrory, decrying the Air Force's Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) program.  Her idiotic bleating is almost too much to bear.  As one combat veteran of the Vietnam War who underwent such training, I can assure Ms. McGrory that most of us remain convinced that such 'sanctioned sadism' was extremely valuable in understanding and preparing for the kinds of torture, beating, isolation, and psychological manipulation that the North Vietnamese would employ to break our resolve as American fighting men.  Ms. McGrory should ask CAPT Jerry Coffee, CAPT Jim Bell, or her favorite, Senator John McCain, whether or not their SERE training provided important knowledge and testing in preparation for resisting, as much as humanly possible, the enemy's brutal methods.  These methods had been ascertained from POWs of the Korean War, who experienced the same kind of treatment to which we were subjected in preparation for combat in Vietnam.  The Vietnam experience contributed heavily to the knowledge and formulation of training techniques that are now incorporated into SERE training.  Experience regarding female POWs in the 100-day Gulf Storm conflict have also been incorporated in the SERE course.
