Egyptian Head (paper batik tutorial) - Artyfactory The artistic technique used to create a moldy time-worn effect is called Paper Batik. The art materials you will need to produce this are a charcoal pencil or stick, a heavy grade paper, a paintbrush with poster paint or watercolor, and a bottle of Indian ink.

Please Do Touch: How To Create A Texture Art Wall - DigsMagazine.com We came up with this silly idea that it would be neat to find cool textures, to keep them on our walls where we could run our fingers over them whenever we happened to be passing by. We made it because we thought it would be funny, and fun. And because it was a cheap way to do something kind of interesting with some empty wall space. The texture wall has been a hit with friends as well, who seem to know what they’re supposed to do with our oddball wall art without having to be prompted.

Directing

Introduction to Directing Teacher Lesson Plan - The students will begin to learn the fundamentals of directing for theatre by creating a short scene.

DUMPS: Directing Unsuccessful Motion Picture Shorts D.U.M.P.S. contains not  the usual advice you get in film school about the elements of good screenwriting.  No, no.  Rather, it is a very specific list of common mistakes and trends which we've seen in crappy student films again and again at screening after screening. Before you even think of making a student film, read this list. If you're a genius, then go ahead--- break these rules. But let's face it, if you think you're a genius, you're not.  So play it safe and spare your audiences the uneasy task of having to lie when you ask, "So- what did you think?"

Stage Directing Resources from Artslynx

Directing Theatre Ultimately, theatre needs three elements: actors, play, and audience. But for theatre to actualize its potential, a person would need to impose his or her point of view that would penetrate all aspects of the production. That person is the director.

Film Editing

Film Editor Overview & Editing Glossary The film editor must know how to tell a story, be politically savvy when working with directors and studio executives, and have a calm and confident demeanor. Millions of dollars of film and the responsibility of guiding the picture through post-production and into theaters rest in the editor's hands. Scenes may have been photographed poorly and performances might have been less than inspired, but a skilled and creative editor can assemble the film so that the audience will never see these imperfections.

Scriptwriting

Scriptwriting Secrets In Scriptwriting Secrets, you'll discover how to get your script through the Hollywood maze and into the hands of someone who could cut you a six- or seven-figure check for your script! You'll learn how to avoid the three script traps that, if you fell into, would land your screenplay in a secretary's trash can instead of on a producer's desk. And you'll learn how to "cheat" your way past those traps, if you need to. You'll learn how to take the arcane Hollywood scriptwriting format and use it to improve your story, to practically put your movie into your reader's mind -- and this is what can sell a screenplay!

Television Production: Scriptwriting Guidelines A comprehensive guide to scriptwriting is beyond the scope of this course; however, when you get through with this module you should be able to understand scripts and even have a good start on being able to write one.

Landing a Script Agent Agents of any stripe are tough to catch, but if you want to get the best deal for your script, you'll need a script agent. Here's how you can reel one in.

TUTORIAL ON SCREENPLAY FORMATTING: How the Pros Do It Invisibly Screenwriting is a DISCIPLINED form of creative writing. Cheap stage lighting that looks professional Here's how to get professional looking stage lighting on the cheap. Effective lighting can make an amateur theater production look professional.

Stage Lighting Basics In stage lighting---whether it be for a Shakespearian theatre production, a huge rock concert, or intimate cabaret---the lighting designer has the extraordinary power to control what the audience sees. Without light there can be no vision; and without vision, no perception. The qualities of light he controls include brightness (amplitude), color (frequency / wavelength), change rates, and direction (angle of incidence).

Stage Management

The Stage Managers' Association is a professional organization created by and for stage managers. We seek to create a network through which we can share our problems, ideas, and stories; educate ourselves and those with whom we work; eliminate that isolated feeling which strikes us all from time to time; make our crazy jobs just a little easier, and help us to be better stage managers.

Storytelling

Story Arts | Story Arts Online! Educators have long known that the arts can contribute to student academic success and emotional well being. The ancient art of storytelling is especially well-suited for student exploration. As a folk art, storytelling is accessible to all ages and abilities. No special equipment beyond the imagination and the power of listening and speaking is needed to create artistic images. As a learning tool, storytelling can encourage students to explore their unique expressiveness and can heighten a student's ability to communicate thoughts and feelings in an articulate, lucid manner. These benefits transcend the art experience to support daily life skills. In our fast-paced, media-driven world, storytelling can be a nurturing way to remind children that their spoken words are powerful, that listening is important, and that clear communication between people is an art.

Handbook for Storytellers This handbook on storytelling offers hints to anyone who is interested in telling stories. You'll have to learn for yourself what works for you. You'll need to develop your own storytelling style. These suggestions are offered as a means of beginning your journey into the wonderful world of storytelling.

Storytelling Power Through a plethora of free articles, we provide a useful guide for anyone who wants to use the power of storytelling at home, at work and in the community.

Stuntwork

How to Become a Stunt Person - eHow.com Whether they're falling off a 10-story building, flipping a Maserati over a car trailer at 70 m.p.h., or delivering a spinning back kick to the villain's head, stunt people make living on the edge look so easy. All that pales in comparison to the hardest parts--getting your union card and landing that first job.

Hollywood Stunt Acting and Stage Combat Getting into stunt work can be made easier if you have a specialty like gymnastics, martial arts, fencing, etc. Stunt people are SAG and have the benefits that actors do. The stunt associations, Stuntmen’s Association, Stunts Unlimited and International Stunt Association can be difficult to gain entry to. Networking is considered a vital resource for gaining entry into this industry, and one known way is to work out with stunt people who commonly train together.

CNS: April 10, 2002: Despite risks, the stunt business is a cool one The role of stunt men and women is crucial, whether to low-budget commercials or blockbuster movies. Few actors are willing to be on the receiving end of a left hook, participate in fast-speed auto chases, or jump 20 feet into an air bag below them. But, as this scene reveals, a great deal of stunt work may not be as dangerous as it appears because of tricky camera work, and the fact that most stunt men and women protect themselves by developing expertise in everything from precision driving, to martial arts and high falls.
