Care to comment on the "Shadow Government?" Let Us Know!

Hmm. I always thought the term "Shadow Government" referred to those unknown manipulators everyone calls "They." The "They" that are running everything from the shadows. The "They" that are going to come after you if you think, say or do what "They" don't approve of.

I've done some research. I believe there IS a shadow government - but that it's not really all that mysterious or anywhere near as "shadowy" as their actions... It's just history and human nature.

Doing an internet search on the "shadow government" is a real treat. At the top of the list are aliens and UFO's, 911 conspiracies, and the quasi-religious Illuminati. No offense to those of you who are certain that these entities and conspiracies exist, but it's really not that productive to look in the shadows when the truth is standing right there in the light.

Perhaps aliens and UFO's really do exist. So what? Do you really believe that an entity capable of traversing the vast expanses of space (or successfully crossing into alternate universes/dimensions while maintaining the ability to interact) would have anything to do with the petty, immature, squabbling rabble running around on this planet? Our demonstrated and documented primary response to anything unusual is fear. We have a tendency to respond to such situations with imaginatively overwhelming violence. And these hypothetically advanced beings would risk this because they want what from us? Power? Control? Money? A weekend place in the Hamptons? What exactly would compel these beings to operate in the shadows if we had ANYTHING they wanted? Why not simply take it? What are WE going to do about it?

A simple rebuttal to the 911 conspiracy is to challenge them to collect evidence of explosive residue deposited by the enormous cloud of dust and ash. Go to Las Vegas (or anywhere else, really) after they implode a building with explosives. The explosive residue can be collected and analyzed days, months and even YEARS afterwards. So where's the residue from the towers?

And then there is the Illuminati...

Illuminati is a name that refers to several groups, both real and fictitious. Historically, it refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment era secret society founded in the late eighteenth century. However, in modern times it refers to a purported conspiratorial organization which acts as a shadowy power behind the throne, allegedly controlling world affairs through present day governments and corporations, usually as a modern incarnation or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati. In this context, Illuminati is often used in reference to a New World Order (NWO). Many conspiracy theorists believe the Illuminati, or the "Illuminated ones", are the masterminds behind events that will lead to the establishment of such a New World Order. Confusing the issue further is the fact that there are also several modern fraternal groups which include the word "Illuminati" in their names.

In rarer cases, the Illuminati refers to an elite set of enlightened individuals who may not cooperate but are uniquely empowered by their enlightenment, much like the intelligentsia classes of today are empowered by their education and intelligence. These are people who have become illuminated and have achieved a higher mystical understanding of the universe. Many secret societies and mystical traditions are concerned with this kind of illumination or enlightenment, such as the Rosicrucian Societies, the Martinists and the original Bavarian Illuminati. There is little doubt that there is at least one (and more likely thousands of) self-styled group(s) claiming to be either "THE" Illuminati or a part of "the Illuminati." It's just too sexy a concept to pass up, people being the way that they are.

Wikipedia® is far from being an authoritative source on any subject it may cover, since it is composed by anyone with the gall to step up and proclaim in writing that they believe they know what they are talking about. On the other hand, I cannot lay claim to any greater measure of accuracy than the various authors and "editors" of Wikipedia®. In fact, I base my claim upon nothing more than intuition and the application of observation of human nature, tempered by common sense analysis and spiced with personal affectation. In short, everything I say or write concerning this subject is my personal opinion.

When it comes to the subject at hand - The Shadow Government - my OPINION is that it is merely the consequence of basic Human Nature.
