Is there a perfect vehicle for survival? To find out, we have to define survival first. Are we readying a vehicle for apocalyptic nuclear winter? How about a world war situation? For these kinds of scenarios I would like to have an armored car, anything else would seem unprotected. But an armored vehicle would draw a lot of attention. People who are just trying to survive don't need lots of attention. Anyone with less than you might just want what you have. No matter how bad you are, somebody is always "badder".

THE ULTIMATE SURVIVAL VEHICLE: What makes a good ‘bug-out’ vehicle? All vehicles designated for this job would have some common characteristics. In perhaps no particular order might be: stealth, great range, simplicity, reliability, off-road capability, ability to absorb damage and continue to function, on-board communications, and be self-contained. It is beyond most of us to obtain, maintain, insure, register, and store a separate vehicle just for the sole purpose of ‘bugging-out’. Perhaps if we did, the choice of vehicle would be easier. As it is, whatever vehicle is chosen must accomplish more than one mission and that always involves compromise.

article. My home state of Colorado was hit with a massive snow
storm that literally shut down the roads from the borders in! DIA couldn’t
get any planes off the ground and people couldn’t get out of their driveways
to catch their flights! Even my dogs couldn’t get out of our driveway! The
Colorado Association of 4WD clubs had to mobilize FEAT, the 4WD emergency
assistance team to help shuttle essential service personnel like police,
nurses and doctors, city managers and help deliver food and medical supplies
to those that were in need. Properly equipped and experienced 4-wheelers
certainly helped keep the city moving!

Emergency Supplies for Off Road Assemble the following items in a
storage container to keep on-board. Be sure to tie down and secure all items
in your vehicle. Loose tools and spare parts can become dangerous
projectiles if the vehicle stops suddenly or encounters large bumps along
the way. While chances are slim that you'd actually need them, you should
pack enough food and camping equipment to be able to stay alive and
relatively comfortable for several days in adverse conditions.

Something to consider:
The Lowly Golf Cart as a Survival Vehicle: So, I can hear you
now--"Is this guy smoking crack?" It isn't big enough, fast enough, can't
carry enough, it runs off batteries, whatever. I'm not advocating the common
golf cart (or as it's know in some parts of the country, the golf car) as
your only survival vehicle. But I think you should give consideration to it
as one of several vehicles that you could depend on in many survival
situations.{link disappeared}
