Do-It-Yourself Automotive LPG Conversion by Tom Jennings
ONLINE CONVERSION MANUAL!!! Better save this
one to your hard drive before it disappears!
LP-Gas Serviceman's Manual Engineered Controls International,
Inc., ECII, has prepared this LP-Gas Serviceman's Manual for use by
installation servicemen and others requiring a handy reference for field
service work. It deals with subjects that can be useful to field servicemen
striving for greater efficiency and safer installations. For the more
technical problems and theories, the many texts and manuals concerning the
particular subject should be consulted. This manual is not intended to
conflict with federal, state, provincial or local ordinances and
regulations. These should be observed at all times.
propane peak shaving and standby systems - Demand for
clean-burning natural gas (composed primarily of methane) is growing
around the world. And in North America, a dynamic gas-energy marketplace
offers an array of competitive choices - and risks - from wellhead to burner
tip. In the new gas-energy marketplace, propane peak shaving
and standby systems provide supply security and flexibility for many
gas utilities and consumers. Most of these plants produce "propane-air" for
direct replacement of natural gas. Great graphics and interesting articles
on utility usage of gas.
Gas Hydrate Storage of Natural Gas [PDF-3.115MB]
Natural Gas Storage Historically, approximately 13%
(3.1 Trillion cubic feet) of the natural gas consumed in the United States
is delivered from storage facilities, primarily during the heating season
from November to March. Natural gas is stored in two basic ways – compressed
in tanks as liquefied natural gas (LNG) or in large underground storage
facilities such as depleted gas wells, salt caverns, or rock caverns,
abandoned mines, and aquifers. By far, the greatest volume of gas is stored
by this second method, usually in depleted gas wells.
California NGV Coalition Fueling Station Locator
- The CNGVC Fuel Station Locator is an electronic version of its Natural Gas
Fueling Station Directory, a comprehensive list and map book identifying
public-access CNG and LNG stations in California, Arizona, and Nevada. While
the printed directory is updated quarterly, the on-line locator is updated
whenever the CNGVC receives information about a station opening or closing.
Clean Car Maps - Find
alternative fuel vehicle refueling sites throughout California using
Mapquest location maps & driving directions and an extensive database of AFV
refueling site information.
NGVAmerica Market Exchange -
online listings of secondhand natural gas vehicles and related equipment.
Principles of Gas Carburetion
The Garretson systems of gaseous fuel carburetion are designed to run
internal combustion engines with gaseous fuel in the simplest, most
economical manner for top performance and lowest emissions for propane
conversions and natural gas conversion kits for alternate fuels. See also:
Methods of Small Engine Conversions
Converting a motor to run on Propane!
Basically, instead of delivering vaporized gasoline as the engine sucks in
the air/fuel mixture during the "intake" cycle, the engine delivers
propane/air mixture. The engine itself is not modified in any way. It still
sucks in the air/fuel mixture, compresses it, ignites it and converts the
resulting explosion (internal combustion) into rotary energy during the
power stroke. Thus delivering work energy to the item which requires power
(to rotate a generator armature for example).
Converting Gasoline Generators to Propane
The generator's carburetor still functions in the normal way with this
conversion, mixing air and fuel into the combustion chamber. You will need
some special propane regulation and safety equipment, available from any
generator shop that sells and services large propane generators (Onan,
Kohler, Winco, etc.).
Convert Your Car To Propane
It works. New York, Maine, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Texas, Utah,
California . . . I've traveled miles and miles and miles in a VW bus
converted to run on LP (liquid propane) and the easy-to-install system
really does result in lower operating and maintenance costs, much longer
engine life AND 70% less air pollution.
Natural Gas
Natural gas is a mixture of combustible gases formed underground by the
decomposition of organic materials in plant and animal. It is usually found in
areas where oil is present, although there are several large underground
reservoirs of natural gas where there is little or no oil.
