Small Scale Poultry Housing. Small Flock Factsheet, Number 10. Small scale poultry coops seem to be built in almost every possible shape and size. Those building a new coop often ask for plans for the perfect chicken coop. However, few plans for small poultry houses are available. Many existing buildings can easily be adapted to accommodate poultry.

A SMALL HEN HOUSE. Because of the inquires being posted on bulletin boards requesting information on housing we have posted plans and a Bill of Material for the building built in 1980, and still in use. It consist of 2 different breeding pens put together. One is the mirror image of the other, so the dimensions are the same for both. Each can stand alone as a small single house if desired. Sugar Mountain Farm: Winter Hen Coop The coop is made of a rectangle of 2x4's on the ground with four arched pieces of light weight rebar to form hoops. Over that we put wire and then TekFoil (Foil-Bubble-Bubble-Foil insulation) which keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Generally there is a drape of fabric, curtain material picked up at a yard sale, on the top to keep the hens from poking holes in the foil with their talons. This article has some photos and description of the construction of the hoop house.

Pole Beef Barn, MWPS-72432 This plan is especially recommended as a framing guide for remodeling existing barns of this type.

12' x 16' Portable Lamb Feeding Shed, MWPS-72508 Shed had feeder, wire mesh fencing, metal roof and expanded metal floor.
