Summary of Constitutional Rights, Powers and Duties. Discussions of rights are sometimes confused concerning what are and are not rights of the people or powers of government or the duties of each. This is an attempt to summarize the rights, powers, and duties recognized or established in the U.S. Constitution, in Common Law as it existed at the time the U.S. Constitution was adopted, or as implied therein. Not included are certain "internal" rights and powers that pertain to the various elements of government within each level with respect to each other.

Understanding the Federal Courts. Far too many people lack knowledge of their federal court system, believing that it is a forum only to be used and understood by attorneys. This document provides an overview of the organization, operation, and administration of the entire federal court system.

Tucker's Blackstone — The Commentaries on the Laws of England by William Blackstone was the canonical codification of the Common Law, but it needed to be adapted to the needs of the U.S. Constitution. This was done in 1803 by St. George Tucker, one of the Founders, who republished the Commentaries, and added commentaries of his own, making the needed adaptations. McAlvany Intelligence Advisor. A bit paranoid, and waaaay over to the right, but if you can sift through the heavily biased propaganda, there is much useful information in the form of the occasional fact. Weird, but interesting read.

Creating the Federal Judicial System, 2d ed. 1994 . This 34-page publication is an update of a historical survey originally published in 1989 for the bicentennial year of the First Judiciary Act. The authors explain the provisions of the 1789 Act and the compromises it embodies, review the evolution of the federal judicial system during the nineteenth century, and analyze the conditions and debates that led to passage of the Evarts Act in 1891, which established the three-tiered system that characterizes federal court structure today.
