Alternative medical systems are built upon
complete systems of theory and practice. Often, these systems have evolved
apart from and earlier than the conventional medical approach used in the
United States. Examples of alternative medical systems that have developed
in Western cultures include homeopathic medicine
and naturopathic medicine. Examples of systems that
have developed in non-Western cultures include traditional Chinese medicine
and Ayurveda. [Link recovered 6/22/11]
Forbidden Cures There are a number of alternative healing therapies
that work so well and cost so little (compared to conventional treatment),
that Organized Medicine, the Food & Drug Administration, and their overlords
in the Pharmaceutical Industry (The Big Three) would rather the public not
know about them. The reason is obvious: Alternative, non-toxic therapies
represent a potential loss of billions of dollars to allopathic (drug)
medicine and drug companies.
Bowen
Therapeutic Technique Goal of a Bowen treatment is to restore the
body processes for self-healing. It uses a series of gently rolling
connective tissue manipulative procedures which realign the body, and
balance and stimulate energy flows. This seems to affect the body's
autonomic nervous system, creating homeostasis at the cellular level.
Bates Method The aim of the method is
to teach people with problems of vision the faculty of easy and attentive
seeing whereby the eyes and mind work together harmoniously to give good
sight. This is only an overview of the method.

Hypnotica, the Self Hypnosis Web Site. Everything you
need to put the power of hypnosis to work for you. Beware the hypnotic
suggestion to buy their books & tapes, repeated continuously throughout the
site! Still, interesting and informative.
"OnLine Hypnosis" This is a shareware
hypnosis/self-hypnosis book. Buyer Beware...
"Homeopathic Medicines for Basic First
Aid" While touting affiliation with the Huffington Post (in my
opinion, more of a warning than a recommendation), I suppose politics have
little to do with viable alternative medicines - aside from the FDA. See
also their extensive article
library.
Emotions and Biofeedback Without Instruments -
cognitive theory of emotion and a self-help technique for the improve of the
quality of life with free down-load self-help book and more. Even has an
Hebrew text version. Most of this seems pretty wacky and far out, but I
believe it is due solely to the page/book author’s writing style. I have
used instrument-free biofeedback techniques for everything from a stubbed
toe to the worst toothache. It works. I have no idea if it can cure
anything, but for pain reduction, it’s a clincher. Just takes a little
practice.
