MEG's Note Regarding Wise Freeze Dried Foods:
SSRsi has seen many reviews of Wise Food products and it has received a wide range of responses from "Fantastic" to "I almost threw up." In the long run, most comments fall somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. The stuff isn't great (usually) but it's not that bad, either.
There are more expensive food products out there which pretty much taste great (even dry) every time... but Wise is CHEAP by comparison. I suggest diligent attention be paid to preparation directions - and have a few handy "helpers" in stock. Your favorite spices, sauces, and some corn starch or arrowroot or tapioca for thickening thin results - and extra hot water for softening/thinning more difficult mixes.
In the long run, if you are preparing for HARD TIMES, this is a good product and the best value we could find. If you are eating gourmet freeze-dried foods now, then you are way out of my league - and I hope you invite me to YOUR redoubt when TSHTF. Seriously. E-mail me. For now, I'll be stocking up on the cheap stuff.
