MEG's Note: Loose threads are common in uniform items - including genuine issue items
(as any E-1 to E-3 can tell you, after having been gigged a few times) - and should be expected. Military copies, however, have a tendency to unravel if you pull on a thread and care should be taken to observe if it is a "loose" thread, which may be discarded, or an
"unraveling thread," which should be cut and then secured with seam sealer, clear nail polish, or rubber cement - usually on the inside of the garment (if possible). A little drop will do the trick - at least until you can secure it with a needle and a locked stitch.
